Lame Affecting Film: Hellraiser

Only recently have I made my peace with Pinhead.

I saw the film before meeting one of the stars in London (Clare Higgins). She was appearing in a Shakespeare play (that's her day job) at the National Theatre. Think it was Goneril in King Lear with Brian Cox. Anyway. Asked her about it and she was kinda cool. Apparently she is a friend of Clive Barker....

Anyway. Pinhead. Damn. This movie (1987) was one of the movies that made me unable to sleep. Too scared to close my eyes and be in the dark. Even weeks, months after the movie, just bringing it up or me remembering it was enough to keep me awake. The nails in the face/head, the reconstruction of Frank from the blood on the floor, the chasing of our heroine, Kirsty, her negotiations, Pinhead's great lines, and the fact that someone's intent (okay, liking pain and pleasure is one thing, being bored is another, but damn, I don't think anyone meant to get caught in that damned other universe permanently. Give a brother a break) totally got them screwed. Ugh.

Name the box configuration. Answer at the end of the post.

And the tiny hooks ripping someone's flesh apart over and over each day must suck.

The face of skin on the floor was grim too.

I hate this movie. Pinhead scared me. I didn't understand the Cenobites. Still don't. But it was damned compelling, totally new, and just amazing to see. The plot was just fresh (freshly sick, but hey). Read the short story after that in a collection. Better in the short story. Discuss: Hellraiser is less a horror story and more of a dark fantasy.

Ugh.

Answer: The Lament Configuration.
