Bridging the Gap

If you've never seen it, hop to iTunes and scope the video from Nas and his father, trumpeter Olu Dara, for the song 'Bridging the Gap.' The video links juke-joint and hip hop, along with a family history shown in photos. Pretty cool.

And this is not to say that crunk or Usher's 'Yeah' don't have their place (in the club, with the titty dancers). But dang if that's not all Top 40 is now days. Folks don't know what hip-hop really is anymore, I've come to think. Like De La Soul and Tribe Called Quest hip-hop. Heck, I'll take Whodini and Kool Moe Dee. Rakim? Bah. Big Daddy Kane? Never. Heck, let's go late with Tony!Tone!Toni! or something.

Man. I must sound like I'm getting old.
