Nip/Tuck. Damn.

I mean, I like Laura Order (Law & Order to you) and CSI (ew, not NY, yikes). A few other shows.

But Nip/Tuck? Damn.

Each week I'm wrung. Yeah, yeah, it's a drama queen (Like TNT, I know drama), but I experience real emotion around the characters and storylines.

I hate Gina.
I love Christian.
Christian pisses me off.
Christian gets sympathy.
Christian's really disturbing.
Sean I waffle on.
Sean pisses me off.
I kinda like Sean.
No, Sean's quietly disturbing.
I can't stand Matt.
I feel sorry for Matt.
Matt pisses me off.
Man, Julia's like everyone says.
No, Julia's not like everyone says.

It goes on and on.

This brings me to tonight's season 2 finale.

Alec Baldwin - still hot. And the character was interestingly compelling. Granted, Nip/Tuck hits me over the head with a stick sometimes unnecessarily (orchids, transformation, inability to pollinate, yes, yes, I got it), but I really enjoyed the scenes he was in.

Famke Janssen - hot. Well, I like the actress anyway, but she came close to blurring that line with Ava. What a repulsive character. But yikes, at the last moments, improved writing made her almost sympthetic, if disturbingly despairing.

I'm starting to decide that John Hensley is doing a great job at making Matt such a rude child.

So nice to see Kimber find a path. Bobolit? Okay, wtf was that thread windup about?

Second season was indeed improved, and Julia really benefitted. But the Drama and drama were really wack (sometimes really well done, sometimes a stretch or just too much - like Christian dumping Natasha, or dang, the fake stigmata bs - jeez just test everyone's blood in the church and find out whose is being used and get it over with).

Unfortunately, the last bit of tonight's episode is just going to upset me. I can see this now. While I can appreciate tragedy, drama, and consistent characterization -- does it -really- have to happen?

Gah.

Ah well. Until next spring!
